I've only been using the pad, but i'm not exactly slow, dont have any driving aids on and its still a lot of fun. I would still like to try it with the wheel, but i dont see the point in paying out for another, especially when i know it won't be as good as the DFP.
This sums it up perfectly. You shouldn't make it easy for people to overtake, i'm not saying you should ram people of the track and stupid things like that, just positioning your car. Like the clip of shumacher and montoya, shumacher could've given the room on the outside, but we've seen countless times that shumacher is v.aggresive, (classic example, after eau rogue at spa in 2000, blocking hakkinen down the straight), so it would've been a better choice for montoya to conceed and try and get a better exit.
There are so many people on here that have a strange mentality to racing. Like when there's a thread about blue flags, some people say they actually pull off the track and stop to let people through, what's that all about. And there's a thread on first corner crashes, someone said "Yes back of the pack should keep at the back till the 1st corner is over then they can start racing cause it should save u from crashing." I mean come on, can you actually imagine watching a race in real life and seeing the back of the pack trundle into the first corner at 20mph holding position until they are through, and then starting to race...
Now days the qualifying isn't any more exciting, you still have to wait for the final session, and the final 5 minutes before it really means anything. Also, at the end of it all, you pretty much know who's on what strategy. In the past when qualifying was low fuel, you would often get a few suprises as people move up the field because they would try different strategies, without sacrificing their qualifying position.
Also the engine penalty rule annoys me. Remeber back at Spa when both BAR drivers, Villenueve and Zonta tried to take Eau Rouge flat during qualifying, and both ended up crashing in a pretty similar way. Now days you dont get anything like that. For one, the cars have too much grip, and its probably flat now anyway (maybe less of a challenge). Two, there's no point taking a risk like that, if you total the car and have an engine swap you'll be at the back of the grid because of the penalty. Which means it's better to "play it safe", causing less action.
I mean, look at this racing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAmbIdwcmSo . You can see how much less grip they have compared to modern day F1, and how cautious they are getting back on the gas without TC getting in the way.
"Why did the Toyota appear to not realise where Kubica was - was he asleep? - driver issue."
When your driving a F1 car you can't just be looking in the mirrors 24/7, and even if you was you wouldn't see much. Driver issue - no
"Why does a F1 car launch off of a service road? Track issue?"
No it would happen at any track, its just physics, when a car going that fast, and with a ride height that low hits the bumpy uneven grass, it's gonna take off
"Why did marshalls not completey remove the stranded STR Car. Marshall issue?"
He didnt hit the car, he clearly hit the wall. Had he hit the car, you would of seen it move, so there's nothing to talk about here
They will probably add a catch fence to the wall following what happend
Yea, AA on the 360 just doesn't seem to work properly. To be fair you dont notice any jaggies at all while driving, and even in photo mode it looks ok a lot of the time. Also, when you send the pics from 360 to PC they get compressed a lot, i might try taking some pics at 1080i, then hopefully they will stay that size when i upload them and i can resize to 1280x720.
The cars are all very different. Like Quicksilver said, at first the clio is very twitchy and easy to loose the rear, where as the standard exige is "glued" to the road, and you can really push it into the corners. Then you can jump into a big american muscle car and can feel the extra weight being thrown around. You definently notice the difference when changing cars.
Got this through the post this morning and it's suprisingly good. Wasn't to sure about the AI after playing the demo, but on the hardest level they put up a decent fight and you can have some good racing. Just wish i could use my DFP with it :grumpy:
I used a brush to make the spray, choose a flow rate of 1 or 2. A little blur, noise, rain etc, added some reflections, but they're only just visible, also selected the tarmac, created a new layer and filled it with black, then chose soft filter 80% opacity, and erased some of it to look like a dry line is appearing on track.
Yea don it would be good if you could choose to open the whole track up, so you can use the rally X and main track, would make a good pic
He didn't stall, if he'd stalled they would've needed to drag his car into the pit lane to start it again, which they didn't. Just a clutch or throttle problem.
They are all linked to the same page as the old pics apart from FZred, which used to be FZreal, and they are all the same file size as before except FZred, and they all look the same as the old pics from my TFT monitor as well ... except FZred. I rest my case
